SK5806 : Beam engines, Abbey Pumping Station, Leicester
near to Leicester, Great Britain

Beam engines, Abbey Pumping Station, Leicester
Four Gimson Woolf compound rotative beam pumping engines. At least one engine is running. This was the one weekend per year when they briefly run three of the four engines together, until the boiler runs out of puff. The engine nearest the camera is still to be returned to steam. This was an officially sanctioned visit and the photographer's location is not normally accessible.
