House on the foreshore at Sunderland, a small hamlet that is cut off at high tide. The houses at the end of the tidal road connecting the hamlet to the much larger village of Overton on the other side of Lades Marsh are in First Terrace. Those round the corner and facing towards Glasson on the other side of the Lune estuary, are in Second Terrace.
