TQ5990 : Woodland at Warley Gap

taken 9 years ago, near to Little Warley, Essex, Great Britain

Woodland at Warley Gap
Woodland at Warley Gap
The extensive earthworks in this area of woodland are, I believe, the remains of trenches etc dating from the early 20th Century used for training soldiers from Warley Barracks - which were situated a little to the north (see geographs in TQ5991) where Ford's offices are now. The area was later overgrown by this secondary woodland.
