Doomed fish
Doomed fish
It's two weeks since a significant flood came down the River Swale, and the level is now very low (the Swale Charity Paddle was cancelled today owing to the low water level). Whilst this may be a matter of some concern to canoeists, it's a matter of life and death to these tiny fish trapped in a shrinking pool in the oxbow left by a recent change of course in the river. Even if they are not dried out completely in the next few days, they are going to be easy victims to a heron if rain doesn't cause the water to flow here very soon.
