Morison's Haven
Morison's Haven
Now infilled, all that remains to identify where this once important harbour was is the outline of the harbour in the old quaywalls. Originally known as Aitchison's Haven it was built to export the salt panned at nearby Prestonpans where priests had established pans to evaporate salt. Hence the name Prestonpans. Trade also included brick and pottery, brewing, soap making and of course coal from the nearby mines.
