SO2634 : Boundary between farmland and open hillside
near to Craswall, Herefordshire, Great Britain

Boundary between farmland and open hillside
Instead of the common practice of planting hedges as field boundaries the farmers in this valley built walls. This must be partly because stone is easy to find on the steep hillside and perhaps hedges would be slow growing at this altitude. This outer field boundary also has a ditch beside it. Perhaps it was built to keep grazing animals out of a cornfield.
