Corfe Mullen Meadow Nature Reserve
A fine oak in the hedgerow of the Nature Reserve, which is run by the Wildlife Trust. In the winter, grass is kept low by ponies, which are supplied with water by a stream along the Eastern boundary. The Reserve is managed traditionally as a hay meadow, and supports many wildflower species. It is cut each year in July and grazed until the following February. The Meadow has one of the largest populations of green-winged orchids in Dorset, and is home to bird's-foot trefoil, black knapweed & yellow bartsia. The best time to visit is May, for the meadow flowers.
