St Michael's Church, Baddiley
The grade-I-listed church dates from 1308, and is one of the very few remaining timber-framed churches in England. The nave (left; see also SJ6050 : St Michael's Church, Baddiley: west face) was encased in brick in 1811, but the half-timbering is still visible from the exterior on the chancel (right; see also SJ6050 : St Michael's Church, Baddiley: chancel) and features close studding with no middle rail. The eastmost pair of windows (left; see SJ6050 : St Michael's Church, Baddiley: detail of windows) are blocked and replaced with trompe d'oeil. For more details see Link
