West Hall
West Hall
This large grade I listed house lies off a public footpath between the hamlet of Folke, and the village of Longburton. Normally obscured behind these trees when fully foliated, at this time of year it is briefly (but still only partially) revealed. It probably has its origins in the C15, when it may have been built for the Hymerford family. Later additions can be dated with more certainty during the early C17, and later in 1671 for Thomas Chafe, with most of the mullioned windows dating from this time. The last major alteration occurred in the early C18 with the addition of another wing.
