SK2142 : Hedge Laying at Shirley Park Farm
near to Shirley, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Hedge Laying at Shirley Park Farm
This hedge beside the bridleway between Osmaston and Shirley has recently been laid in the Derbyshire style using sawn timber stakes for support. The bushy growth has been angled to the livestock side. There are no bindings along the top but the hedge has been trimmed to give a finished height of 4ft. The base of the hedge has been dug over to remove weeds and encourage the bottom growth needed to restrain sheep.
