Beck Hole
Beck Hole
Out of curiosity I checked the internet for Beckhole and discovered the photo of my parents old house, the Lord Nelson Inn. Thats the one on the right of the photo. They bought the old pub from Algernon Newton who lived there to escape the blitz in London. You will probably know that he was a noted artist and painted the sign over the door of the Birch Hall Inn in gratitude for the hospitality of the villagers.
My parents used the house as a weekend getaway before eventually retiring there. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there in 1956. The house was sold in 1983 after the death of my Father and I last visited Beckhole in 1996 and took the opportunity to visit my parents grave in the Goathland churchyard.
Thanks for the lovely photo which I will send to my Family who all now live in New Zealand.
Good wishes
