SM9836 : Barren strawberry (Potentilla sterilis)

near to Llanychaer, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Great Britain

Barren strawberry (Potentilla sterilis)
Barren strawberry (Potentilla sterilis)
Resembles the wild strawberry to which it is related, but the 5 petals of the barren strawberry are widely separated and do not develop into sweet fruit. It is however an attractive harbinger of spring, blooming at the same time as the celandine.
