Old enclosures in a secluded valley
There are signs of many stages of habitation in this area. In the middle distance are an ancient mound, a castle ruin and many old walls built to enclose farmland. The deepcut line of Greenburn Beck shows clearly. Miners may have removed the natural forest to make charcoal for smelting ores.
