Behind is Elton Hall, also grade II listed, dating originally from the 17th century or earlier, but partly rebuilt and refronted in the mid 18th century and restored in the late 20th century. This later work also involved a totally redesigned garden, fitting for a house previously occupied by Thomas Andrew Knight (1759-1838), who was one of the founder members and later president of the Royal Horticultural Society.
