SS7248 : Waterfall, Glen Lyn Gorge
near to Lynton, Devon, Great Britain

Waterfall, Glen Lyn Gorge
The West Lyn River tumbles down the Glen Lyn Gorge as it heads for Lynmouth where it meets the East Lyn River, and very shortly after that, the sea. At this point however it still has some distance to fall, and a pipe takes water from near to these falls and carries it down the steep valley to the small hydroelectric power station nearer the bottom. The potential energy of this difference in altitude being sufficient to produce about 300kW at the little station.
