Art Deco Offices, Fairfield Road, Warminster, Wiltshire
This Art Deco administrative block belongs to Dents the glove makers. Established in Worcester in 1777, Dents moved to Warminster in the 1937 when it took over the former Jefferies Manufacturing Company premises. It's likely that the offices and factory beyond were then built. Currently Dents wish to move to larger premises and there is a proposal to sell the site to Waitrose. The building will be demolished but Tescos' conversion of the Art Deco Hoover factory in west London shows that old buildings can be adapted. I have suggested to the council that it should be listed as it is a good example of an Art Deco office that on the outside (and maybe inside) has retained its original features including the windows. Also, there are few Art Deco buildings in Wiltshire.
