near to Salisbury, Wiltshire, Great Britain

Salisbury Cathedral Spire
At 404ft, the spire of Salisbury Cathedral is the tallest in Britain. It is the cathedral's most famous feature - however it wasn't originally there ! The main part of the cathedral was built in just 38 years between 1220 and 1258, but the spire was not added until 1320. Inside the cathedral are plans and models explaining the construction of this fine piece of architecture.
