TM0419 : Young Hawthorn, old Comma
near to Fingringhoe, Essex, Great Britain

Young Hawthorn, old Comma
As the new leaves of the hawthorn were opening, this old Comma butterfly, presumably overwintered, was spreading itself open wide to absorb the warm rays of the mid-April sun. No doubt, better Comma specimens will be visible here at Fingringhoe Wick reserve later on.
