Stile off Toothill Lane North, Rastrick, Yorkshire
This stile is at the start of the footpath that crosses over the M62; Toothill Lane is now a dead-end, stopping at the motorway fence. The stone slab forming part of the 'squeeze' stile is inscribed Asa Farrar / Oc 27th 1859. He was a weaver who was listed in the 1851 Census as living at Oaks Green in his father's household. He would have been about 22 in 1859, so the carving might be to do with this spot, which incidentally was known locally as New Dick, being a favourite place for courting.
