Clachan Bridge
Clachan Bridge
The bridge is famous as the 'Bridge over the Atlantic'. This is said to be because all the other arms of the sea which are spanned by a bridge have their own names, but the narrow strait between the mainland on the right and the island of Seil on the left has no name of its own. Yellow whins provide a touch of spring colour, but this is too early in the year for the purple Fairy Foxglove (Erinus alpinus) which grows in profusion above the arch on the south face of the bridge itself.
