Unusual flowers
Unusual flowers
These are purple saxifrage (saxifraga oppositifolia) found in very few places in the valley. In fact the lack of flowers altogether is noticeable. The grass is mostly too coarse for sheep to eat and they nibble at just about everything else that pops up, including heather and tree seedlings.
