Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid/The Skerries from above Trwyn y Crewyn
The Skerries lie about 4km north west of Trwyn y Crewyn in an area of fierce tidal currents. There has been a light on the Skerries since 1716 when a coal fired beacon was erected. The present lighthouse was built in the 19thC. For almost 200 years lighthouse-men and their families lived on the island, but in 1987 the lighthouse demanned. Its light is visible from up 46km distance.
