Wren Library
Wren Library
The medieval north arcade of the Cathedral cloister was pulled down in the early 15th century by the notorious Dean Mackworth to provide stone for his new stables and remained ruinous for over 200 years. In 1674 the new nine bay arcade of Doric columns was built in the Palladian style by Sir.Christopher Wren supporting the Cathedral library ... known as 'The Wren Library'.
