Rudimentary gravestone, St James's Church, Chawleigh
This very small gravestone has had ivy stripped off it, but the remains of the plant cling to the crevices. This stone stands in a group of three. Not easy to read, but the date of death was 8th December 1753. The quality of the stonemasonry suggests that it was not a wealthy family which buried this person.
