The station was opened as Featherstone Park on 19th September 1851. In 1902 and downgraded to a halt in 1933 it was renamed Featherstone but closed to goods on 19th September 1954 and to passengers in 1976 when the whole line was closed. During World War II passengers services increased due to a prisoner of war camp in the grounds of Featherstone Castle.
