This is part of the former Woodham Ferrers to Maldon Railway. The Railway was opened in 1889 and closed to passenger traffic in 1939, freight operations ceased in 1953. The trackway from Cold Norton to the footpath that leads to the B1012 was designated as a bridleway in September 2005. The photo was taken looking towards Woodham Ferrers
