SU2411 : Eastern edge of Ocknell Plain, New Forest

Eastern edge of Ocknell Plain, New Forest
A view southeast from the eastern edge of Ocknell Plain. The Ocknell Inclosure is on the left - its boundary ditch and bank survive although its enclosing fence was removed in the nineteenth century (and the interior has much of the character of Ancient and Ornamental woodland). A few specimens of holly have encroached onto the heath and grown to a reasonable size despite browsing by the commoners' stock.
