Sea defences, Dawlish Warren
The sea defences, in the form of large rocks along this stretch of coastline are mostly crystalline, bluish grey, igneous rock Larvikite from Larvik, near to Oslo, and Dartmoor Granite. There are also (as pictured) burnt looking rocks that presumably are waste materials. There are a lot of sea defences in this area mostly to protect the railway line. Some experts believe this is to the detriment of the sand dunes.
