The ruins in the lower centre of the picture are those at Bunton [aka Bunting] Level, with the bouse teams and old wheel pit to the right.
The moorside above is scarred by the deep hushes of Gorton, Friarfold and Bunton; all man made, but now becoming part of the natural landscape. The hushes helped to expose valuable deposits of galena along the Gorton and Fryerfold veins, which were part of the Old Gang lead mines.
