The public footpath diagonally crosses this very large field in line with the castle ahead. This is often a walker's nightmare in winter because the wet earth sticks to your boots and accumulates, so you end up with massive blobs for feet, each weighing heavily - hard going. The big advantage of walking on heavily frosted days is that you can skip across the surface, so on this day the obstacle presented no problem at all!
