Another chaffinch (for comparison)
Compare NH2828 : Dog Falls cock chaffinch in breeding plumage. I thought it was a juvenile but not so (see below). Still, it was successfully begging crumbs off the members of homo sapiens in Dog Falls car park.
Added information from Mike Pennington, with thanks:"This is just another male - too early for juveniles (birds just out of the nest) and aging them is not really possible in spring. There is natural variation in colour, however, and work has shown that the brightest birds are most successful at gaining mates"
