San Remo Towers, Boscombe
San Remo Towers, Boscombe
This is the inner courtyard of San Remo Towers, a large block of 164 luxury flats, viewed from Michelgrove Road. Built in 1935-8 by American architect Hector O'Hamilton, it is in a flamboyant Spanish mission style, which must have raised a few eyebrows back then. Today it is universally admired as a piece of 1930s exotic fantasy, and one of the most impressive seaside developments in England of its period. Grade II listed.
