Vigil sculpture, memorial trail, Kilmore Quay
"The sculpture of two grieving figures looking out to sea supporting each other marks the beginning of the trail. A time of longing and yearning, but also of being comforted and consoled, gives way to a deeper and more solitary journey." That is a quotation from a plaque at the site. The sculpture is by local man Ciaran O'Brien. The memorial trail and garden were opened in 2001. The Saltees islands are seen out to sea in this photo. See S9603 : "Journey of Hope" memorial plaque, Kilmore Quay for plaque describing the sculpture and garden.
