SP8816 : Site of Marston Gate Station

taken 12 years ago, near to Long Marston, Hertfordshire, Great Britain

Site of Marston Gate Station
Site of Marston Gate Station
This is where the Aylesbury Branch Line of the London & North Western Railway used to cross Station Road from 1839 until 1963, when the line was dismantled. Initially there was just a level crossing at Marston Gate, but a passenger station was built and operated from 1863 to 1953. Little remains. The house in the picture is called Station House, but is not the original station building.
