Church Bridge nr Hawnby
On the 19th of June 2005 this and many other bridges in the area were damaged by a severe flash flood.
The picture shows a temporary 'Irish ford' and scaffolding around the closed stone arch.
The structure was entirely submerged at the height of the flooding. Combined with heavy debris being swept downstream, the water was capable of severe damage, but the arch appears structurally sound.
