NG6934 : Crowlin Isles from above Culduie
4 km from Toscaig, Highland, Great Britain

Crowlin Isles from above Culduie
From this vantage point, it's possible to see what is less apparent on the islands themselves - that the islands share the bedrock with the mainland, the sandstone strata dipping consistently with those near Toscaig in the foreground. The Caolas Mor is simply a glaciated valley that happens to be below sea level and thus divides the islands from the mainland.
In the background is Skye (geologically distinct from this area) and a handful of other islands of the Inner Sound.
