This is the East Meadow of Warley Place nature reserve LinkExternal link. The Reserve is sited in the grounds of Warley Place demolished in 1939. The gardens were created by Miss Ellen Willmott a famous horticulturalist in the early twentieth century. After her death in the mid 1930’s the gardens went back to nature. In a fortnight or so the meadow should be awake with Wordsworthian native daffodils. Click Here to see TQ5890 : East Meadow Three Weeks On. Early crocus’ can be seen just coming into bloom in the foreground the spectacular displays of less than ten years ago are no more because of grazing rabbits with a taste for crocus leaves.
