Toll bridge at Penmaenpool
I don't know what the signals are telling us, but the cyclists have stopped for a drink at the George! The signals are remnants of the Barmouth to Dolgellau railway line that once passed this way. The trestle bridge is the first motor vehicle crossing point of the Mawddach upstream of Barmouth (pedestrians, cycles and motorcycles can pay a toll to cross via the Barmouth railway bridge). If you are too miserly to pay the small fees involved, you must journey on to Dolgellau to cross.
