SH6214 : Mawddach estuary
near to Barmouth, Gwynedd, Great Britain

Mawddach estuary
Great views up the estuary can be had from Barmouth bridge. As can be seen, the sand bars in the estuary are exposed between high and low water. The time is 1807, almost an hour after Barmouth low water at 1715 on a very windy day, as the choppy waters testify. The large white blob at the edge of the foreground sandbank is a heron.
