Cement bags on the shore: Barton upon Humber
In the 1920s, cement was packed in jute sacks: the weave and sewn seams are still visible. The beach here consists largely of black flint and white chalk rejected by the cement plant's raw material preparation system. Excessively hard material could not be ground.
