This ruined dwelling is the birthplace of 'Old Dubrach'(Peter Grant) buried in
Braemar graveyard (See NO1592). It was also the billet of the redcoat Sgt. Davies whose grave is on the bleak hillside a few miles away.(See NO0386). Their extraordinary stories are related in Ian Murray's book, "The Dee from The Far Cairngorms."
