SO2737 : Fish pool by the River Monnow
near to Craswall, Herefordshire, Great Britain

Fish pool by the River Monnow
This man-made pool is close to the ruins of a medieval Grandmontine Priory and I guess the monks created the original pool. The main river flows right to left past the pool on the far side, some metres below the water level in the pool. There are many reeds and trees growing in the pool now.
I assume that the monks settled here because the valley was remote and peaceful when they came here from France. Even today there is a very low population living in the area and it's blissfully peaceful.
