Smiddyseat: perimeter fence of the WW2 Chain radar station
Hillhead was the site of one of the Chain Radar stations that protected the East coast of Britain during the second world war. This large site was heavily protected by a perimeter steel fence, much of it now gone, with integrated pillboxes. The building seen across the fence is a modern building associated with an underground water reservoir that has been built on part of the site.
