SN4348 : Spring in Ceredigion

Spring in Ceredigion
It's late May and the bluebells are still in bloom on the ungrazed land at the top of the hill. The yellow trees are laburnums, or golden chain, a feature of this part of Wales, being found in many hedgerows. Some people say that this is because laburnum fencing posts were brought over from Ireland during the war, and rooted. They are often found growing at suitable spacings to lend credence to this story. It is difficult to imagine they were planted purposefully as they don't make good hedges and the seeds are toxic. Livestock seems to avoid them however and show no ill effect.
