Believe it or not the tree in the middle has actually managed to grow to a height of around 30ft if not more in a thin soil that has developed on the boulder. The whole area is covered is covered in a thick, rich pebbly boulder clay overlying pebbly sandstone which outcrops in several places in this woodland.
