Mansfieldtown Church, Co. Louth
St. Mary's Church, a simple rectangular structure built in 1691 but with a 15th-century gothic east window rebuilt in the far gable. Leslie in his 'History of Kilsaran', published 1908, states that the townland name is derived from the Anglo-Norman family of Maundeville who settled here soon after 1172. A photograph in the book shows the church roofed. The earliest reference to the church is in the Papal Registers dated 1299. A large decorated c. 15th-century font from here is now in St. Mary's Parish Church, Ardee.
