St Albans: The old Electricity Works, Campfield Road
Built in 1908 by the North Metropolitan Electric Supply Company the works is currently in use for other industrial purposes. The works contained an administration block, a power hall and a relatively early example of a refuse destructor station. Now over a hundred years old and locally listed, it has been under threat of demolition for residential redevelopment of the site for some time. Gary's TL1607 : The Old Electricity Works, Campfield Road, St Albans shows the building in 2007.
