SN1239 : Woodland meadow and path

Woodland meadow and path
Recently opened footpath running between Coed Pengelli and Castell Henllys: the National Park authority that manages the ancient woodland has co-operated with the landowener to plant native trees such as oak, ash, birch and hazel in several fields to re-establish the forest. Many of the young trees were grown from Pengelli Forest acorns. As can be seen there is a considerable amount of natural regeneration as well.
Cows have been reintroduced to maintain the meadow and woodland edge habitat which lines the walk route, benefiting the indigenous wildlife.
