TM4349 : Furled mist-net

near to Orford, Suffolk, Great Britain

Furled mist-net
Furled mist-net
One of a few mist-nets set up by the Landguard Bird Observatory ringing group. Mist-nets, when open, are very fine nets that birds generally don't see and fly into. They are stopped by the net and fall down, getting caught in the folds of the net (there are several panels within the net). Birds should only be removed by trained ringers who are able to remove them from the net without causing harm.
