Pwllcrochan church: view from east
In this view from the nature reserve which lies just beyond the graveyard to the west, the defensive tower with an octagonal spire can be seen on the south side of the cruciform church.
In 1648 a skirmish took place in the churchyard here, between the local Parliamentarians who were in the ascendancy, and a Royalist force that had landed nearby after crossing by sea from Bristol. The church was successfully defended and the King's men were sent packing.
